2006 Track and Field Season
Kajaks JD athletes had another successful year in Track and Field, finishing
with three 15-year old athletes competing at the Legion Championships (held
12-13th August at SFU). Christabel Nettey broke the Legion Record to win
Long Jump with a jump of 6.02m, and came second in the 100m event with a time of
12.32. Emma Kimoto won High Jump, jumping 1.65m. James Lee won silver in
the discus event, throwing 51.27m. Christabel Nettey also won gold in the
4x100m relay.
While Christabel dominated sprints and long jump this season, Emma Kimoto
has gone from strength to strength with her jumping; known as a high jumper, she
is now an outstanding triple jumper, long jumper and pole vaulter. Besides
discus, James Lee also excels at Hammer throw.
All three also competed at the BC Summer Games (for Midget athletes 14-15yr)
held at Kamloops July 28-30th, where Kajaks athletes came home with a total of
13 medals (7 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze). Multiple gold medal winners were Christabel
Nettey and Emma Kimoto. Christabel Nettey won gold in 100m,
200m, and Long Jump with a meet record of 6.12m, and bronze in 4x100m relay,
while Emma Kimoto won gold in Triple Jump, Pole Vault and took silver in
High Jump. Both had outstanding performances. For the boys, Tallon Donald
took gold in 100m and Emerson Murray won gold in 4x100m and silver in
Long Jump.
Other silver medallists were Jessica Padrinao in Hammer and James
Lee in Discus, while Connor Baldwinson (who has turned in some fast
times this season in his distance events) took bronze in 1500m. Jessica
Padrinao has been a stand-out this season in Discus and Hammer, and Emerson
Murray shows excellent form in multiple events, i.e. in sprints, jumps and
throws.
Other Kajaks athletes who competed at the Summer Games were Gurjot Bal,
Tanner O'Showy, Jamie Andrews, Jason Monachini, David Slade, Liam Breen, Alex
Lindsay and David Ling.
Among the younger athletes, Sky Young (W13) had another excellent
season, dominating High Jump, with a PB of 1.60m. She is also a strong
competitor in Long and Triple jumps, and 200mH.
Pauljit Bandhal (M12) once again dominated the throws events (discus,
shot put, hammer) in his age group. This was his first season throwing hammer.

2006 Cross Country Season
Not many athletes participated in the Cross Country this year, but those that
did performed very well. At the 2006 BC Cross Country Championships in Victoria

Baldwinson finished 2nd (15yr boys) and David Ling placed 3rd (14yr
