Hand times versus Electronic Times:

  • Hand times are compared using IAAF guidelines referred to in e.g. IAAF Scoring Tables for Combined Events page 25 (PDF file).
     
  • Hand-timed events 200m or less are considered to be 0.24s slower than electronically timed events. Events 200m-400m are considered to be 0.14s slower. No adjustment is made for longer events.
     
  • Any times shown to 0.1sec (1 decimal place) are assumed to be hand timed, while electronically timed are shown to 0.01sec (2 decimal places).

2005 Modifications:

  • new events added (race walk, new hurdle heights and distances, new throwing weights, pentathlon SP weights etc.)

in some cases there is not enough information to determine whether performances were under identical conditions of throwing weights or number/height  of hurdles. In that case, both performances are included.

  • separation of JD age groups to reflect the JD Top 10 tables age-groups.

2006 Modifications:

  • * discontinued events
    specifications have changed for certain events, particularly Junior Development throwing implement weights and hurdle heights, so that some of the events in which records exist are no longer contested. To simplify the records, these events have been removed to a different area.
     
  • * road racing
    road races (marathon, half marathon) have been moved into a separate table, and 10km, 8km, 5km road racing best times have been added. 5000m Road Race Walk has also been added.

in some cases it has not been possible to determine the birth year of an athlete, hence the age of the athlete cannot be determined. In this case the performance has been retained unless superceded by a better performance.
